The Talbot’s in Lockdown 2020
Week 6 – Monday 27th April
We all cry together.
That is what its felt like this week. Another emotional week of kids not wanting to do much and then wanting to do everything at bed time or tea time! Why do they want to do school work at weekends??
There has been so many resources made available, and amazing as that is, it’s been quite overwhelming. So we have literally done what we want to do and forget the rest or what other people have done. We’ll get around to it all I’m sure. It almost felt like keeping up with the Jones’ at times.
I feel like we haven’t really done that much at all this week. Quinn’s had a pirate adventure with school by making a pirate ship, telescope and has done various written and drawing activities which she has really loved. Ellis has done his usual, the absolute minimal to get a by! He has however had a good science day making experiments which he loved.
It wasn’t just the kids that weren’t in the mood this week, I wasn’t either!
Having said all that, the kids managed a few sleepovers in each others bedrooms, a lot of den building (I have to admit, I HATE a den! Ok, the first one is fine, but when the same items (the whole entire contents of 2 children’s bedrooms!) are carried down the stairs for the 8th time that week for me to carry them back up 8 times, I really get bored of it!) Anyone feel the same? I can’t help but think of my friend Cheryl (she would be gutted I feel this way) as she would LOVE a good den building day!
This week has also seen…
A rainbow craft fish…. my God that was a faff to make! So fiddly! There’s me thinking, this will keep the kids busy! Nope, it kept me busy as they watched me do it. I have some left over so I might give those away!
Quinn tasted the rain.
Ellis made strawberry smoothies.
Quinn painted my nails and has dreams of opening her own nail salon “when Corona goes away”.
Ellis lost another tooth! He’s really become quite gappy! Did the tooth fairy visit again in Lockdown? Yes… but she was late! (forgot!) She had to send a text message in the morning explaining about the social distancing rules and his coin is hidden. Luckily he enjoyed the hunt for the coin. Phew!
So that’s week 6 done. Is’t it going by fast! All the days and weeks are merging in together. Dan goes back to work tomorrow, so let’s see how home schooling goes this week!
