The Talbots in Lockdown 2020 – Week 7

The Talbots in Lockdown 2020

Week 7 – Monday 4th May

How on earth has another week gone so quickly? Really? I can’t believe I am writing about week 7 already!

I felt week 6 was a bit flat. We all felt a little down and mood was at an all time low. This week, however has been a better week. Maybe its been the weather, or the fact that it was a four day week with the VE celebrations? But anyway, we all made it.

Dan’s been back at work so i’ve pressed on with the work set by school. Ellis was actually a little more keen to do his work, but I think Quinn realised it was a four day week so each day, she was a little more in holiday mode! She did have a good Space themed week and made a rocket, her very own planet (it’s where the tooth fairy lives apparently) and designed a solar system. Ellis even enjoyed (just a little bit!) his English work of reading the Elves and The Shoemaker and answering a few questions.

So, this week apart from the school work, I have tried (and failed) to get on top of the house work. The house is an utter mess and stuff is everywhere! I thought I was being really clever and gave the kids an amazing task that offered, determination, skill, patience, hand eye co-ordication, strength…. basically it was to put a pillow case on a pillow! Did they do it? Nope! Did they have the determination to succeed? Nope! They probably did 30 seconds. Quinn looked like she was wrestling a water buffalo and Ellis looked like he was trying to put socks on a octopus! It almost ended in tears with them wanting to smother themselves with the pillows!

I did managed to succeed at one thing this week… putting more weight on! Is it just me that’ll have to wear a name badge when we re-emerge from our houses as we’ll be unrecognisable? I’ve baked a banana loaf again! (I keep wondering when our kids are studying this pandemic in school in years to come the words banana loaf will come come? “Oh yes, there were no toilet rolls on the shelves, no pasta, no flour but nearly every household made a banana loaf!”)

I also ordered chocolate brownies!! I ordered them! 12!! Why? No idea! So we (I) ate some (most!) of them and distributed a few to neighbours… just in time for my cinnamon bun delivery!! Please, someone stop me!! Meanwhile… Dan is making cheese scones! That you have to absolutely eat straight out of the oven COVERED in real butter! (anyone else call it ‘real’ butter?).

Also this week…

We jumped on the tissue paper hair dying craze and coloured Quinn’s hair. It worked so well! She said she is now a real life mermaid! So at least her lockdown dreams have come true! The kids played with water beads for hours and probably got sun burnt in the process, Max turned 7 months and I caught him eating flowers, Dan and I had our 9 year wedding anniversary, VE Day colouring in and the biggest thing to happen this week… We went out in the car! All of us with the dog for an emergency claw cutting! Her claws were so long they had started to cross over and she was styling out a pretty good limp. I was actually pretty nervous about going out in the car with all of us. Not because of Corona, but because I hadn’t had to think about us all getting ready at the same time and working around Max’s naps and feeds for so long! Also, where on earth was Max’s car seat? We hadn’t needed that for ages it was probably going to be under Quinn’s Superhero, Space and Pirate themed makes!

You’ll be pleased to know the Den building days have been limited! 😂
