My 5 favourite things about my Cake Smash sessions

I love bring a Family and Children’s Photographer in Preston, Lancashire.

I am able to capture precious memories to be treasured.

In all of my sessions there is an element of fun and often the children don’t know they are being photographed! :)

One of my favourite sessions I offer is the Cake Smash and Splash sessions.

They are mostly offered to one year olds to celebrate their first birthday. They get to enjoy exploring a huge cake before cleaning up in the little bath tub afterwards.

Sometimes the child loved both the cake and the bath but sometime they prefer one over the other.

Here are my favourite 5 reasons I love a good cake smash and splash…

1. The set-up

I love to get involved and ask the parents at their time of booking what set-up or theme they would like for their Cake Smash. Some parents don’t really know where to start so I always point them in the direction of my cake smash blog page. There are lots of ideas on their. Some parents tell me that their little one loves lions or ducks or just that they would like a pink setup or a green and blue one.

I really enjoy making props and setting up before everyone arrives at the studio. I like to see their faces when they walk in and be surprised and excited about their session.

2. Their reactions and expressions

Every child is different when they see their cake. Some need a little encouragement and others just go for it. But, they all give me great expressions and I love to capture it.

3. The difference a year makes

It is really nice being a family photographer as I get to see what a difference a year can make. I have the lovely and privileged job of photographing gorgeous babies when they are only a few days old. When they come back a year later for their cake smash and splash, I really can’t wait to see the one year old they have become! Their character and personality is really starting to show, and I love to see it.

4. Reviews

It is great to be able to deliver a gallery and get great feedback. Especially when a session didn’t go to plan. Sometimes the child needs a little bit more time to get use to the environment and flashing light. This is all fine and I never rush a session if they need a little more time to settle. I have great patience and I will always do my best to make everyone feel happy to have a great photo-shoot.

4. The Final Product

I have a few products on offer and they are great for showing off the photos from your session. i have them up in my studio where you can have a look at them when you come in for your photo-shoot. It is really lovely when customers decide to show their fabulous photos up in their own home.
